Mijn wapenschild - My Coat of Arms

Translation into English

New coat of arms requested by Werner Camiel Dorus Vols, born in Wilrijk on 19.2.1961 and approved by the Heraldic College on 9.9.2023 under the nr. 547.

The description:

In gold, a wolf's head with neck skin of natural color topped with a crossbeam of glaze, bent on either side, loaded with a bobbin of thread and a pair of tailor's scissors crossed diagonally, all made of silver. The shield topped with a helmet of silver, barred, collar and border of gold, lined and stitched of sable. Wrong and tarpaulins: glazed lined in gold.

Helmet sign: a flight of glaze loaded with a thimble of gold.

Coat of arms: LABORANS ET PERINAXIn letters of glaze on a ribbon of silver.

Motivation:

This is a visual weapon. The ancestor and oldest family names are Fools, Vools.

Living in Bruges for several decades as tailors, weavers and fabric merchants starting at the end of the 16th century.

The helmet signs the thimble, and the yarn and scissors naturally refer to these professions.

The wolf referring to the family name Vools. Colors have great significance in the history of the Vols family. 2 brothers emigrated to the promised land, my father and grandfather have to do with the shipping industry, the blue of the ocean, and I was born in Wilrijk where blue and gold/yellow are the colors. The golden yellow also of the wheat “the cornbelt” in the US where the Volsen have settled.

I would like to start with the wolf's head as the name Vools and his first subsequent ancestor where only the name Vols was used, being Petrus Franciscus Vols °Lembeke 19.12.1795; +Kaprijke 26.12.1855.

The motto mainly concerns the character of many Volsen over the centuries “hardworking and persistent.”

So every child born in the family Vols born out of the children of Petrus Franciscus Vols

In Belgium or the USA or Canada may use this Coat of Arms.
